Overview
Stop the room that is always too hot.
Almost every house has one room that does not work. West-facing glass turns a living room unusable from four o'clock through summer, a home office has glare on the screen for half the working day, or a room over a garage never matches the rest of the house no matter what the thermostat says. Window film addresses those directly, and it is dramatically cheaper than replacing glazing or adding cooling capacity.
The UV damage is the part people notice too late. Sunlight fades hardwood floors, carpet, artwork and upholstery, and because it happens gradually most people only see it when they move a rug and find the original colour underneath. Quality film blocks over 99% of UV, which is genuinely the difference between floors that hold their colour and floors that need refinishing years earlier than they should.
Our climate creates a specific version of this problem. Nine months of grey weather means nobody thinks about solar gain — and then a stretch of clear summer days makes the south and west rooms intolerable in houses built without air conditioning, which is most houses here. Film is the retrofit that works in a house that was never designed to be cooled.
Waterfront and view properties are their own case. Homes around Birch Bay, Semiahmoo, Chuckanut and Lake Whatcom are typically built with large glazing pointed at the view, and nobody wants that view compromised. Modern spectrally selective film rejects substantial heat while staying nearly clear, so the glass keeps looking like glass.
The process
Every step, in order
- 01
In-home consultation
We look at the rooms that are actually a problem, check orientation, and identify your glass type.
- 02
Film selection
Samples held against your own glass in your own light. Screens misrepresent how film reads at home.
- 03
Written quote
Priced per square foot by room, so you can stage the work rather than doing the whole house at once.
- 04
Clean install
Furniture protected, glass deep cleaned, film applied, workspace left as we found it.
- 05
Cure & aftercare
Film hazes slightly while curing and clears within a few weeks. Care instructions and warranty at handover.

What people say
What clients say
Super friendly, great work, best price. Offered very clear instructions on what they would proceed, options, even suggested a less expensive option for me. Honest, friendly, professional. And my car looks amazing!
I had tried for months to remove 10+ bumper stickers from the back of my car to no avail. They went the extra mile and the back of my car is now completely free of all stickers and residue. Fantastic customer service.
They did an amazing job and went above and beyond to work on my car right around the holidays. They took extra steps to work with my schedule which I deeply appreciated. I definitely recommend Albrecht!
FAQ
Questions, answered
Residential film is quoted per square foot, generally from around $8 for solar film. Most homeowners start with the one or two problem rooms rather than the whole house, which keeps the first job well under a thousand dollars in many cases. We quote by room so you can stage it.
